This program supports schools that provide
nutrition programs such as breakfast, lunch and/or snacks to children and youth
across the District of Timiskaming.
Centre Pour Enfants Timiskaming Child Care Centre: Toy Lending Library
($4,000.00)
This program allows parents and children in the District
of Timiskaming to
borrow free of charge, toys, games, and puzzles. The Toy Lending Library is located in the
Haileybury premises.
Centre de
Santé Communautaire du Témiskaming: Kids on the Block ($
This program was introduced in 2003 and uses puppets to
educate and heighten awareness of school age on diverse topics such as drugs
and alcohol, abuse prevention, bullying, disabilities and a wide variety of
other subjects. The project is now
active District wide.
DTSSAB:
Informal and Special Needs Day Care Assistance ($12,000.00)
The program provides assistance to family requiring special needs and
informal day
care for their children.
Timiskaming Native Women's Support Group: Timiskaming
Aboriginal Children/Youth/Parents Learning Together Summer and
After School Project ($7,500.00)
This program provides support to Native Women and their
families by carrying out activities that strengthen the Native family as a
whole.
Salvation
Army Family Services & Food Bank: Food Bank ($10,000.00)
This program offers support in providing food items to
families in difficulty within the city of Timiskaming
Shore and the surrounding areas.
The Salvation Army Kirkland
Lake Citadel: Food Bank
($10,000.00)
This program offers support in providing food items to
families in difficulty within the town of Kirkland Lake and the
surrounding areas.
Timiskaming Child and Family Services: Baby, Not Me, Not
Now ($35,000.00)
This program has been funded since 2000 and focuses on
improving parenting skills, reduce teen pregnancy and reduce child abuse
through education.
Timiskaming Health Unit: Health Babies/Healthy Children
($25,000.00)
This program has been funded since 1999 by the DTSSAB. Due to the continued funding, the Health Unit
has been able to continue to provide district-wide Well Baby Clinics and home
visiting programs to high-risk mothers and babies.
