Department Fleet
As of May 2025, the EMS fleet consists of the following:
Ambulances
DTSSAB Paramedic Services has 10 ambulances, three located at each of three dedicated bases (North, South, Central), with an additional float ambulance. Ambulances vary from single to double stretcher using Stryker Powercot/Powerload (primary stretcher) and Ferno 35-A (secondary stretcher).
Paramedic Response Units (PRU)
Primarily used by Paramedic Superintendents and Team Leaders, providing support in the form of logistics, supplies, and coordination with community partners and administrative tasks.
Community Paramedic Vehicles
The Community Paramedicine vehicles enable the Community Paramedics to attend appointments and Wellness Clinics throughout the district.
Off-Road Response Unit (ORU)
The Off-Road Response Unit, put in service in 2021, is a modified off-road vehicle with an enclosed and climate-controlled compartment at the back, with stretcher and supplies to allow for safe transport of paramedics and patients in an environment comparable to a traditional ambulance. The ORU and its fully enclosed response trailer provide access to traditionally difficult to reach locations. The modifications on the unit enable the enclosed response trailer to serve as a mobile command post.
